The weather is warm and the water is now refreshing rather than frigid so the time has come to begin the intense, pain-staking task of working on my tan. I know, I know, it is hard work and I shouldn't put myself through such an undertaking. I have enough on my plate with 2 kids, a household to maintain, a time-demanding calling at church, and working part time. However, how I see it is I owe this to my family. Too many times over the past few years my siblings have lovingly commented on my ghostly white skin ... so I owe it to them to re-unite myself with the sun. I have been working full time through the summers since I was married. I almost long for the summers when I spent at least 4 hours a day working for my dad in the yard and then heading to the beach house in California for two weeks to really put the finishing touches on my tan. Man I would get dark!!!
But this year is going to be different.... and even better than those summers years ago. I am finally moving toward the title of "stay-at-home mom" and I couldn't be more thrilled about it. I have 2 adorable little kids that are at the perfect pool age. The few times we went to the pool last summer was constant anxiety. Not only did I have Luke who was too small for floaties, but too big to enjoy the baby canopy tube, but I had Karina who was figuring out she can make it to the deep end in her floaties before I found someone to watch Luke and get to the deep end to bring her back to "Mommy's Safe Zone." Now, both kids are comfortable in their floaties and I get to just sit back, relax in the zero-entry pool and watch my cute kids explore and splash in the pool. What a fun summer this will be!
By the way, a friend introduced me to the best floaties in the world!! They are Speedo brand and you can get them at Target. Luke wouldn't stay afloat and balanced in the others I had so we tried on a friend's floaties (hence the pink on Luke). They work like a charm so I headed straight to Target the next day to pick up some very boy blue floaties.

Let the tanning begin!
That pool looks awesome! Is that your neighborhood pool? I'm so jealous!
Oh Jill - you will have no problem perfecting that tan! At least we know that your skin has the potential to get that tan, poor Marc definitely got the short end of the stick compared to his easy-tan family. ;)
