For some reason Karina does NOT like to be called funny, silly, or goofy. It started about 6 months ago. Since then, I have to choose my words carefully so I don't ignite any drama. Last week Karina and I had some mommy/daughter time. We went shopping and out to dinner. While we were eating I starting asking her questions about why she is not funny. Long story short, it's okay that she makes me laugh but I can't call her funny. I thought for a minute and then asked, "Can I call you entertaining?" Curiosity rose on her face "What does that mean?" I then told her "Entertaining is a fancy word for making me laugh" She smiled and said "Yeah Mom, I like to be entertaining." Thank you Fancy Nancy!! I've finally found a word fancy enough to describe my daughter without her getting upset.
My mom sent Karina some makeup in the mail a few days ago and since then, she has a new "grown up" routine to get ready. She gets dressed, picks out her hair accessory, usually puts on a bracelet or necklace and then heads to the bathroom to put on her makeup. It's pretty funny because she acts like it's such a chore and she's so put out to get ready but really, she loves it. ("Mom, I have a lot to do this morning" then a long sigh "I'd better started.") Here she is after a morning routine:

Karina you look so incredibly beautiful!! You look like a movie star & I'm trying to think of her name. Sometimes it's very hard work to be so beautiful and entertaining at the same time!!! But you do an amazing job at both!!!!!!!! I miss you tons! Love, Nana XOXO
She looks so so grown up there! Seriously, we have got to slow down all this growing up business. Sigh.
